A portion of a drop handle from a piece of post-medieval furniture. The object consists of a rounded quadrilateral hollow attached by a scooped neck to two curved, horn-like and bilaterally symmetrical projections. The body is surmounted with a leaf shaped raised area. Similar examples are present on the database in varying states of preservation. A cast copper-alloy Early-Medieval/Anglo-Scandinavian strap end of Thomas' Class E Type 3. The plate is tongue shaped in form. The upper surface appers to be decorated with small (1mm) circular markings consisting of an indentation surrounded by a raised circle, in turn then enclosed within a circular depression. The front face of the plate has a vertical median rib. The object is covered over most of its surface with a green patina, with areas of deeper corrosion and dried soil shown as gradations of brown. A silver Medieval coin; a cut half penny of John (AD 1199 - 1216), Class 5b1 dating from AD 1205. It was issued by Henry at the London mint. The face on the coin is worn, but the lettering is in good condition. See North number 970i. The coin is 19.4mm long, 9.7mm wide and 0.6mm thick. 0.67g.

A copper alloy contemporary copy (barbarous radiate) of a Roman radiate coin. It probably dates from c. AD 275-85 (Reece Period 14). The design is too crude to be able to identify the coin being copied. the obverse appears to show part of a bust, the reverse part of a figure. The edges are damaged, but the surface is in good condition with a dark green patina. It is 10.5mm diameter and 1.6mm thick. It weighs 0.62g.

Complete but worn Medieval cast lead alloy personal seal matrix; pointed oval (vesica) shaped, 13th century. The central device is an elongated fleur-de-lys. The inscription is set between grooved borders, and isdifficult to read. The letters + SIGILL [...] ALICIE (Seal of Alice) can be made out, with at least two letters invisible after SIGILL (possibly the VM that would complete the word SIGILLVM). The reverse has a central mid rib running the length with a suspension loop at one end. Seals of women are surprisingly common.

A Roman copper alloy sestertius probably of Claudius, therefore minted AD 41-54. Due to wear and corrosion the coin cannot be identified any further. Robert Kenyon, following on from the work by the French scholars P-A. Besombes and M. Bompaire (in Trésors Monétaires XXI, 2005), is working through the British examples of Claudian coinage recorded through the PAS assigning many so-called Claudian contemporary copies to Roman auxiliary mints which operated at Lyons (Gaul) and in Spain. This example could not be classified to a mint.

Incomplete and heavily worn cast copper alloy hinged Dolphin brooch. Only the incomplete wings and a small section of the bow survive. The wings are cylindrical in section and hollowed for taking the iron axis bar which is still in situ. The wings have an open slot at the centre to allow the hinged pin would have rotate, the top of the hinge of the pin is still present. The head of the bow is slightly swollen where it meets the top of the bow. Below this the bow tapers towards the missing foot. This brooch has been dated in line with hinged dolphin brooches AD c.55-100.

Incomplete and heavily worn copper-alloy Roman headstud brooch with enamel decoration. The brooch is T-shaped with the pin and catchplate now missing. The head is sub-rectangular in shape with traces of the axis bar and hinge part of the pin fitting still visible in situ on the reverse of the head.
