Complete copper-alloy pommel from a roundel (rondel) dagger of late Medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1350 - 1600. It is circular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section, with a central, circular perforation on either side that does not go all the way through. The pommel has 16 radiating points with regularly spaced deep grooves between them. Roundel daggers were long thin daggers with there round, 'starburst' pommels. They are in use from the mid 14th century until the 16th (Ward Perkins 1940, pg 42).

The object comprises the pommel, grip and guard of a sword, it is an all in one cast hollow with a hole in the pommel for the through tang to be peened over.
