A ceramic spindle whorl probably dating to the Roman to Early Medieval period (c. AD 43-850). The object is irregular in plan and sub-trapezdoidal in section, with a circular central aperture. The object is formed from a cream-coloured fabric with a black patina in places around one side.  The object measures 61mm in length, 69mm in width and 22mm in thickness.

This is an undecorated lead conical spindle whorl with an off centre hole. Plain lead spindle whorls and weights were cast locally from the Roman period to the Post Medieval Period, therefore making them hard to date precisely.

A complete lead spindle whorl probably dating to the Medieval to Post Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1600). It is of sub-rectangular section, with equally sized flat upper and lower surfaces and vertical sides and a central, sub-circular perforation running through the object. The whorl is decorated on one face with an octofoil in relief and three pellets between each point of the octofoil. Cast biconical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 10mm and strongly moulded decoration on either side; one bears pairs of pellets radially arranged, and the other possibly triangular groups of three pellets. A well-defined circumferential rim marks the meeting of the two halves, and the aperture is also similarly rimmed on either side. Patinated. A complete lead spindle whorl of Roman to post-medieval date. The hole is 9.5mm in diameter and slightly off centre. It has a flat base and convex upper surface. There is indistinct moulding on the curved upper surface, although this does not appear to form a distinct pattern. The metal survives in good condition.
