An incomplete cast lead mount of medieval to post-medieval date (c.1300-1600). Description: The mount is in the form of a five-armed wavy star, two of which surive, the rest being stubs. Each slightly curved arm is sub-triangular in cross-section so that they are rasied at their centres. Smaller arms, inbeween these, are all broken off at their bases. Plano-convex in section, it has a rectangular arm which terminates in old break at one end and a D-shaped loop at the other. The edges of the frame of the loop are decorated with three pointed knops. The plate tapers gently inwards before terminating in an ancient break, making identification of its precise function difficult.
