An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman horse brooch. The brooch is in the shape of a stylised horse with Romano-British styled decoration in the form of blocks of enamel, but has a realistic shaped head, if slightly simplified. The head has a circular cell representing an eye. There is a moulded mane, but with no fine detail of the hair, instead there is a slender cell which was originally filled with enamel, and is further decorated with fine obliquely angled ridges along on the upper edge of the cell. The front legs of the horse are short and wide at he top, and quickly taper to blunt…

Carved architectural element / corbel carved as a stone head of probable medieval date (1200 - 1550). The stone head is carved from a block of light yellow - cream coloured limestone or possibly a very fine grained sandstone. A small area has an orange coloured iron staining probably due to the nature of the burial environment. There are also a number of brown coloured areas of mortar adhering to the face of the carving. The stone head has been reused, but was at one point buried. It is currently mortared over a doorway of a brick barn, probably built in the 1850’s to the model farm …

Middle Early-Medieval copper alloy pin with bent shaft and polyhedral head - a cube with the corners cut off. It measures 57.8mm in (bent) length and weighs 3.20g. The head measures 6.4x6.3x6.4mm and is flanked by a squarish collar 1.5mm thick. Below this the circular-sectioned shank extends 2.9mm in diameter, tapering over a (bent) 49mm to a 0.8mm diameter point. The shank is c.51mm un-bent. The pin may have been bent in antiquity to hold it into clothing or hair (although the sharp point might suggest clothing rather more than hair!)
