An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy hair pin of Cool’s Group 3, dating to the first to third century AD. The head is spherical with a cordon underneath. Below this the body tapers inwards before expanding. After tapering inwards once more there is another collar. Extending below the head is part of a circular-sectioned shank with an uneven transverse break. The patina across the entire object is light green in colour. The pinhead measures 19.8mm in length and 6.62mm diameter. It weighs 2.96 grams.

It has a globular head which has a diameter of 16.2 mm. The full length of the object is 68.8 mm. On the tip of the head, there is a raised section in a parabola shape. The head is 18mm long and 22mm wide at the widest point remaining. A copper alloy Roman padlock. The padlock is a mask puzzle padlock. The front cover of the padlock is in the form of a male head with straight, vertical ridges for hair and almond shaped eyes.
