A complete medieval copper alloy enamelled stud, with a possible wildman/wodewose design, dating to c. 1200-1400. It is a  barbed quatrefoil in plan with the barbs extending out of the centre of each of the four lobes, and a large shank attached to the rear. The lower (apparently broken) end of the pin is contained within a tubular sheet ferrule with a longitudinal seam, the edges butted-together. Extant length of pin 63mm, diameter 3mm. Object is an incomplete? copper alloy hairpin (It may be missing some of the length). The head of the pin is globular in shape, and the stem is sub-circular in section and tapers to a point. It is not clear whether this was an original feature or is evidence of a break, the object was discovered in a river so may account for the wearing of the point. The pin consists of a globular head that presents deep, curved diagonal grooves; together this give the impression of a twisted rope effect that pinches together the top of the head. A Medieval lead-alloy badge, dating to c.AD 1200 - 1600. The badge is circular with almost complete pin at the rear. The front of the badge is decorated with a pellet border, depicted inside the border is a person viewed from the shoulders and above. The face is decorated with pellet eyes, a rectangular nose and mouth as well as hair. Possibly the Virgin Mary?
