A complete late Iron Age early Roman Colchester 'one-piece' brooch, Mackreth type C 4.d., dating c. AD 25-60. The head of the brooch possesses two short, narrow wings which have a total length of 24.52 mm and width of 4.13mm. Each wing is decorated with five wide vertical grooves creating a ribbed upper surface. On the reverse of the wings the back of the bow splits, the upper element curving up over the bow terminating in a forward facing hook to contain the external chord. An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch. A Colchester type. The bow only remains. The pin and spring are missing. At the head of the bow is the remnant of one of the short wings at the rear of which is the stub of the integral sprung pin mechanism. At the top is the stub of the forward hook which would have secured the chord of the missing spring. The head is at a right angle to the bow. A copper alloy palstave axe that has a wide curved blade. The sides of the axe are concave and taper from the blade to the middle of the axe each side is slightly expanded with a low ridge running down either edge no both the front and back sides. The stop ridge is positioned three-quarters of the way down from the blade, this is shallow with deep flanged sides behind that run almost the whole length of the rear third. On the side of the axe is a low oval loop that is adjacent to the stop ridge. Middle Bronze Age 1500 BC – 1150

A complete pointed Acheulian flint handaxe/biface of lower to middle Palaeolithic date (500,000-180,000 BC) and 89.5mm in length. The handaxe has a pointed ovate form with well patinated soft-hammered flaking evident to both faces. One side retains a patch of cortex (around 20%). There is recent damage to the tip.

Silver strap-end with incised 'vine-scroll' interlace motifs, interwoven with harps and set around a centrally placed equal-arm cross with circular terminals. There are traces of niello, and of further decoration at the break, where the split attachment would have had two circular rivet holes (missing). The strap-end terminates in a stylised animal head with large rounded ears and small circular eyes, with incised lines on brow and to represent snout/mouth.
