An incomplete Roman bone gaming counter dating from AD 200-410. The counter is a plano-convex with a slightly sunk hole in the centre. Similar counters can be found in Crummy (1995: Nos. 2281), and in Kenyon (1948: pg226-227). Kenyon type D, they seem to have been produced throughout the Roman period but Keynon writes that use of type D counters "increased in popularity in the later periods." An incomplete Roman bone gaming counter dating from AD 50-410. The counter is decorated with four shallow concentric rings on the upper surface, the reverse is blank. This decoration was possibly produced through turning on a lathe. The edges are bevelled outwards. The gaming piece is damaged with a section of the outer ring missing. Similar counter can be found in Crummy (1995: Nos. 2271), and in MacGregor (1985: pg132-133). An incomplete copper alloy trumpet brooch  Description: A fragment of a copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from AD 75 - 175. Flared rounded head decorated with a single engraved line near the edge. On the reverse is a rearward facing perforated lug holds the spring support bar and spring. The pin is missing. An incomplete copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Harlow, double lug, dating c.AD 43-100. Description: Most of the bow, head and spring of the brooch survive, with the pin, foot and catch plate missing. The bow is D-shaped in cross-section and quite thick. It has a slightly raised central ridge which runs from the double pierced lug at the head along the length of the bow. Both wings are present, one is damaged. An incomplete Roman bone and wood hinge for a box or chest. Description: The hinge is formed of an outer bone cylindrical sheath containing a central wooden spindle with the stump of the peg. The outer bone cylindrical has been turned and polished and decorated with incised lines (two pairs and one single line). There is one neat circular hole drilled into the side. The wooden spindle inside has shrunk slightly due to some drying out. It too has been drilled with a circular hole that still holds the stump of a peg.
