Complete, but broken, copper-alloy strap slide of early Medieval date, probably 850 - 1000 AD.
Object comprises a decorated (multiple ring and dot) oval plate (21.68 x 16.90mm) and two parts of a loop, each extending from opposed edges of apices of the plate towards the reverse, then bending at approximately 60 degrees towards the centre of the reverse of the plate. The two ends of the loop parts are not joined, but they are of a length such that they could meet and be joined to form a complete loop.
The oval plate is 1.5mm thick and on the face has a raised (about 0.5mm) r…

Late Saxon white-metal coated copper alloy oval strap slide in rather worn condition with an incomplete and distorted integral loop on the reverse. The flat front plate carries stylised zoomorphic, probably Borre-derived, decoration in counter-relief. At both ends there is a pair of confronted open-mouthed animal heads, and a double-strand saltire, with a low boss at its centre and all four ends projecting slightly from the edge, overlies a double-strand oval. Metallic coating has been lost from the front, but on the reverse areas of survival near the ends with straight edges flush wi…

A Medieval copper alloy strap slide, probably dating to c. AD 1000-1100. The strapslide is zoomorphic and decorated in a highly debased version of the late Anglo-Scandinavian Urnes or Ringerike styles and depicting an animal's head viewed from above, rudimentarily cast in high relief and with further details incised and punched into the surface.
The strap slide consists of an off-centre sub-lozengiform boss, domed and with a concave reverse, with two ring-and-dot punches depicting eyes. From the top edge, away from the eyes, is a short, sub-rectangular projection with an indented t…

An incomplete copper-alloy Carolingian style strap slide or fitting of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 800 - 1000. The fitting is rectangular in plan with a hollow domed profile. The upper surface is irregular with three peaks set along a longitudinal medial ridge. Recesses to either side of the ridge retain traces of a yellow/green enamel and are roughly symmetrical. To the reverse of the fitting, worn projections central to the narrower ends, represent the remains of an attachment loop. Further yellow/green enamel is retained within the reverse hollow.

An unusual incomplete cast copper-alloy Carolingian style strap slide or fitting dating from the 9th to 10th Century AD. The object is a rectangular mount as categorised by Thomas (2012), with an oval hollow on the reverse. The rectangular attachment loop is missing, although small projections indicate is was attached at the centre of the two smaller rectangular edges. The fitting would have been cast in one piece. The decoration consists of a longitudinal medial ridge with three peaks; the centre peak is slightly larger. Deeply carved decoration either side of this ridge is roughly s…

A gilt copper alloy strap-slide dating to the 10th century. It is flat and rectangular, and decorated with a crude relief Borre-style ring chain. On the ridges of the ring chain the remains of gilding (or the bare copper alloy) can be seen
It has a broken narrow, rearward curving tab at either end that would have formed a rectangular loop. The reverse is silvered.

A copper-alloy strap-slide dating to the 10th century. It is flat and rectangular, and decorated with a crude relief Borre-style ring chain. On the ridges of the ring chain the remains of gilding (or the bare copper alloy) can be seen. On one side of the outer face is a triangular perforation, apparently a casting flaw.
On the reverse is a rectangular attachment loop, D-shaped in cross-section. The loop is integral and has possibly been repaired at one side where there is an overlap of copper alloy. The loop has been pushed inwards in the centre during antiquity.

An oval copper-alloy object, probably a strap-slide of late Anglo-Saxon date. The object is flattish, and incomplete on a small part of the circumference due to old breaks. It is also slightly curved, to give a convex appearance on the outside. There is a raised rib of metal running along the long axis, approximately 1.75mm in thickness and 4.65mm in width. The metal of the rib has a reddish tinge and is decorated with eight separate ring-and-dot motifs. These also cover the entire front surface in a haphazard way. Early-medieval cast copper-alloy strap-slide, probably 9th century in date. It is formed of a single, narrow band of copper alloy, moulded to a flat, rectangular loop. The band widens on the top and is now lozengiform, although the sides of the widening are worn so its original shape is unclear. This face is decorated with a raised ridge moulded along the length, flanked by slight grooves. Length 18.4mm, width 9.2mm, depth 10.2mm, thickness (plate) 2.2mm, weight 1.95g.
This object bears some resemblance to the silver strap-slides with midribs from the Trewhiddle hoard, now in the B…
