A complete Medieval copper alloy casket key dating to c. AD 1150-1450. The bow of the key is circular with an oval cross section and internal diameter of 5.18mm. The solid stem is sub-rectangular in cross section, extending from the base of the bow and terminating in a projecting pin beyond the bit. A complete copper-alloy Medieval casket key. The bow is circular, 12.38mm in diameter, and is internally worn. There is a little projection above and below at the junction of bow and stem. The stem is oval in cross-section, and is pierced at the tip; the tip is in line with the end of a simple S-shaped bit which has two channels and two clefts. The shaft is hollow.
