A late Medieval to Post-Medieval cast copper-alloy casket key probably dating to c.1400-1800.
Sub-circular irregular pierced bow, with an integral oval solid shaft that is flared towards the end. The bit is simple, rectangular in form. The surface displays a green patina.
Length 36.7mm, width 14.9mm, shaft thickness 3.2mm, weight 7.2g.

An incomplete late Medieval cast copper-alloy casket key probably dating to c.1200-1500.
Just the bit and the end of the pointed shaft remains. The shaft is oval in cross-section tapering down to a protruding 6.5mm point. The integral bit is sub rectangular with clefts on either side. The surface displays a dark green patina.
Length 15.7mm, width 11.9mm, thickness 3.9mm, weight 1.9g.

A medieval cast copper-alloy key for a casket, box or similar, dating to c.1200-1400.
A sub-circular 10.8mm outside diameter bow with an integral oval cross-section solid shaft that flares out slightly towards the bit. The tip of the shaft is hollowed to a depth of 5mm with an inverted T-shaped bit that has rectangular clefts on either side. The shaft is slightly damaged / bent in the centre. The surface displays a patchy light green patina.
Length 32.4mm, oval shaft 2.8mm x 4.2mm and weight 3.3g.

A Medieval cast copper-alloy rotary casket key, dating to c.1150-1400.
Circular bow with an integral oval cross-section shaft that is hollowed at the end and a simple sub-rectangular bit with small clefts on either side. The surface displays an even, dull, pale green patina.

A complete copper-alloy key finger ring, dating to the Roman period, AD 200-410.
Description: The finger ring consists of a complete, though slightly crushed hoop but would have been circular in plan and rectangular in section. The bezel is flat and rectangular in plan with no decoration. From the bezel projects the 2.36mm long shank, this is flat and rectangular in cross-section. A complete cast copper-alloy and iron lock cover of possible medieval date (c.1100-1500).
Description: The object consists of a lozenge shaped plate with a circular end, the back of which is the source of contiguous iron corrosion, probably due to the iron attachment which fixed to the door and which allowed the plate to rotate. The upper surface of the plate appears to be undecorated. The plate has a dark green and red-brown patchy patina.

An incomplete medieval cast copper-alloy, probable bow of a casket key, c.1200-1400.
Lozenge shaped with a quatrefoil openwork design. There is an old break that would have connected to the shaft of the key. The surface displays a green / brown patina.
Sub-square 12.3mm x 12.8mm, thickness 2.0mm and weight 1.2g.
The handle is incomplete but is similar to SWYOR-6B1B61 and SF-E65BCC . These are keys of Ward Perkins (1940) London Type VI.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy casket key of probable late to post medieval date.
The key has a sub-circular bow with a round perforation. The shaft is oval in cross-section and widens, tapering gently towards the bit end where it is hollow to a depth of 10mm. The bit is incomplete, but of a rectangular shape at it's attachment to the shaft. The key is bent between the bow and the shaft, probably from post depositional damage. The surface displays a light green patchy patina.

Description: The key is small with a solid drilled stem ovate in cross-section. A roughly circular bow loop forms he upper terminal. The opposite end of the stem has a flat bit projects from the underside of the stem at 90 degrees and has one rounded cleft in its outermost edge and stepped outer ward. It has an even green patination and is slightly bent along its length.
Measurements: 31.25mm long, 14.36mm wide (with bow and bit, 11.23mm at the bit), 3.85mm thick and 3.41g in weight.

Description: The bow is plain and circular in form with a circular aperture of 14.4mm diameter. The bow is integrally cast with an oval cross-sectioned stem that terminates in a hollow tip. The bit is sub-square with a small cleft on the front edge. The surface has a patchy green patina.
