Metal detecting on cultivated land at a depth of 10cm. Description: A Post Medieval silver cufflink element, from a quarter of a pair of cufflinks, dating to c. AD 1660-1700. It is a single disc of silver with turned down edge, and with a rectangular loop soldered onto the underside. The repousse motif within a raised border on the upper surface is of a heart with crossed downward-facing arrows behind or through, and a flame emanating from the apex of the heart (Lewis Form 1, Type B). A cast lead alloy Medieval button dating to c.AD 1300-1550. This button has a slightly bent profile and a wide diameter, with two central holes set in a circular recess. These are now filled with soil. This artefact has a few surface marks and an even grey surface patina. The button is 24.29mm in diameter, 3.02mm thick and weighs 12.07 grams. An inner circle separates the motif from a three-word circumferential legend: COUNTY FIRE OFFICE – the central word is less clear than the others. A drawn wire loop is brazed to the plain back.
