A 17th century cast copper-alloy (tombac) two-piece button. Hemi-spherical solid body with a separate oval wire loop. Decorated with a five petalled flower motif. The surface displays a shiny dark green colour with the loop being pale green. Diameter 10.2mm, height 13.2mm, weight 3g. See, Bailey (2004 : 33), Fig.8.15 passim.

Either a cast lead button or token dating to the Post Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and trapazoidal in cross section having one surface which is wider than the other. The slated edges meanwhile are slightly curved. On the narrower surface there is a raised rounded border surrounding a shallow large cell within which is the raised design of a six petalled flower. A post medieval copper alloy (tombac) button dating to the 18th century. The button is flat and circular. At the reverse is an incomplete shank that would have extended into a loop to allow the button to be sewn to a garment. The front face is decorated with a multi petalled flower. There is a very similar design recorded by Bailey (2004) page 47, no 35. Bailey explains how the patterns on 18th century tombac buttons were hand engraved leading to great variation. The surface has corroded but appears decorated with small dots all over the face and underside. To the reverse is small mound in the centre from which the small loop projects. A complete post medieval two piece copper alloy button, dating between AD 1700-1800 The body of the button is conical, with a rounded apex, part of the rim being slightly bent inwards. Both the interior and exterior surfaces of the button are plain and undecorated. A loop of copper wire is fixed to the apex of the interior of the button, and is bent toward the rim of the button.
