An incomplete snapped flint blade of probable later Mesolithic or early Neolithic date (6000BC - 3500BC). The flint tool, probably best described as a knife, is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and sub-triangular in cross section. The blade has been snapped and the point is lost - the break is unpatinated and is likely to be an artefact of movement in the soil. The bulb of percussion and striking / knapping platform are present on the lower (ventral) face. The upper (dorsal) face of the blade has a number of clear facets and ridges. Both the long edges have been retouched on the dorsa…

Tranchet axehead or adze that is triangular in cross section. The underside has been achieved by a single flake that has a large bulb of percussion at the top. The sides are large, scaled flake removals that formed the overall shape of the piece, in the lower; running around the edge are dense, scaled and right angled flake removals that cover the lower quarter of the sides. The cutting edge (now damaged in post-loss) is formed by removal of an oblique flake across the end of the axe. Brown flint with creamy patches, there is a patina forming on the blade, the flaking that has damag…

Flint 'pyramid' / conical core for the production of bladelets / microliths dating from the later Mesolithic period (6500 - 3500 BC). The core is formed from a very small nodule (probably a river pebble) which has been extensively worked in a single direction. There is no cortext present on any surface. The shape of the core is pyramidal with one clearly defined flat striking platform from which small blades / bladelets have been removed. There seems to be little evidence of specific redressing of the striking platform - although the surface suggest that it has been heavily used. Belo…
