Medieval silver short cross penny of Richard I, 19mm in diameter, 0.53mm thick and weighing 1.37grams. The coin is fairly worn and is bent slightly, but has good silver patina. The obverse shows forward facing type 4 bust. It is struck slightly off centre so only part of outer border shows. Inscription reads HENRICUS REX. The reverse shows short cross and quatrefoils formed of joined pellets. Inscription reads WILLEMONWINC. This confirms both the mint, winchester, and the reign.
