Description: The object is a silver, composite badge or mount designed to be sewn onto clothing or a hat. The badge is in the form of the head of a hart (white stag) which is in profile, facing right. The eye is a high-relief pointed-lentoid outline. The mouth, in profile is slightly open. The horns are straight and parallel and joined by narrow ribbing. The head protrudes from a collar or crown which is separate to the head and has probably been soldered on to the neck. Medieval gold pendant. A rectangular gold pendant with a suspension loop at the top and projecting pins at three of the corners. The fourth pin has been pushed inside the pendant. One side is crudely engraved with the head of Christ and the other with a half-length image of Christ as the Man of Sorrows. The pins are likely to have been designed to hold pearls, which have perished in the ground. Metal analysis conducted at the British Museum established the gold content to be 83% gold. An incomplete lead or lead alloy ampulla, of Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500). Approximately 50% of the ampulla is present, consisting of the lower half of the vessel. The top of the vessel is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. In plan, it has a sub-circular base and the sides of the neck (now misshapen) flare slightly towards the mouth which is ragged and incomplete. The loops are missing. At the convex front there is a raised scallop shell with six obvious flaring ribs. The reverse bears several faint diagonal lines but no obvious decoration is present. It measures 32.12…

Treasure Report: 2011/T549 Parish/County: Walsall Area, West Midlands A medieval finger-ring, much distorted, consisting of a flat band terminating in a thick pyramidal bezel with a square panel bearing a cross. This appears to retain traces of niello. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with criss-crosses and punches. The ring is silver and dates from the twelfth century. Description: A plain gold finger ring of late Medieval to early post-Medieval date. D-section hoop. The ring is in very good condition with some minor nicks and scratches visible. There are no inscriptions or markings on either the inner or outer surface. The ring was found during excavations by Birmingham Archaeology. It was found in a context dated to the 15th or 16th century, and is made of gold. Given its material and age, it qualifies as treasure under The Treasure Act 1996. The foot in section is a sub-trefoil shape, with a slightly flattened reverse. The foot tapers slightly terminating with a horizontal ridge on the outward facing surfaces. The top of the foot is a broken surface, but this is not a recent break. The foot has traces of a black sooty deposit, particular in the grooves, but there is non of this deposit on the break of the foot. Otherwise the surface is corroded.

The mount has the outline of an acorn in a shell. The tip ofthe acorn has semi-circular knop protruding. The cup has concave sides and a 'V' shape protruding from the base. On the reverse there are two circular sectioned studs protruding from opposite edges. One stud is incomplete. The reverse is slightly hollow. The surface of the mount is corroded.

The buckle has an annualr frame is and is circular in plan. The frame is sub-circular in section. The pin is cast. As decoration on the pin there is a ridge perpendicular to the direction of the pin. The ridge is just after where the pin curves forming a sub 'C' shape in profile. The other terminal of the pin tapers slightly to a blunt point. The pin and frame have a matte grey patina.
