An early-medieval silver Carolingian denier of Charles the Bald (AD 840-77) or later, monogram/METVLLO type dating from the AD 860s-c.925, mint: Melle, France. Weight 0.9g, Diam 20.1 x 11.0mm. Ref: Coupland 2015: 70, 75.
The coin is well-struck and clear although only approximately half of the coin survives, the break jagged irregular with the centre and part of the rim is missing. The surface is a dull silver colour.

An Early-Medieval silver penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), pointed helmet type (AD1053-6; North 825; BMC vii), mint: York, moneyer: Thor. Ref: North 1994: 180.
The obverse shows a bearded bust facing right, wearing a pointed helmet. His right arm and hand are shown holding a sceptre fleury. The inscription reads EDPER[D] R[EX]. The reverse shows a short cross voided with each arm ending in three small crescents, facing to the border. There is an annulet in the centre of the cross.
