A complete struck/ hammered base silver probable derivative contemporary copy of a Frissei Series E sceatta, dating to the 8th century AD (diameter: 11.6mm; thickness: 1.2mm; weight: 1.24g). Late saxon silver penny of Baldred of Kent, 19mm in diameter, 1mm thick and 1.15grams in weight. The penny is a Group I bonnet type penny which dates to 823-825 and shows a bonneted bust facing right. The inscription reads +BELDRE[D]R[EX CA]NT. The reverse shows a two line inscription reading DRUR/CITS which is surrounded by the moneyers inscription [SIGE]STEFMONET. The coin is in good overall condition but fragile. Three sections of the edge have broken off which makes reading the full inscription difficult.
