A copper alloy pin, possibly from an Early Medieval (AD 400-600) penannular brooch of Fowler's Type F.
The pin is made in one piece and at the front of the head end is a flattened oval in plan. In profile the head is 'C' shaped which is the point where the head would have attached to the brooch frame. Below the head end, the shaft becomes square in section, then it tapers to a rounded and narrowed tip. The pin does not appear to have any decoration.
