Post-Medieval (c. 1500 - c. 1700) copper alloy book-clasp: The body of the book clasp is a long, slender rectangle with an off-set rectangular protrusion at one narrow edge, whose edge is curled downwards forming the clasp element. The opposite terminal is flared and moulded with two rivet holes with the remains of copper alloy rivets. Beyond the rivet holes there are three circular perforations as decoration. Copper alloy clasp 16th - 18th century AD. The clasp has a rectangular body of sheet metal with a small hooked tab at one end. There is a rivet hole in the centre near the tab end. The body is undecorated and could be a clog fastener although book-clasps bearing similar decorative motifs (punched ring and dot, the incised 'pheons') can be found illustrated in Crummy (1998, 68; e.g. ref. 2993). These examples are given a 17th-century date. Similar on the database to LIN-2DD746 and SUR-2093D4 The length is 30mm and the width 16mm.

An incomplete cast and stamped copper-alloy hook-piece from a book-clasp dating from the early post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1550-1650). This artefact is flat with parallel sides and the front plate is missing. It has a centrally placed hook which is 'U'-shaped in side profile. This fitting is in poor condition with a rusty brown patina with green edges. The length is 35mm, width is 19mm, and the weight is 3g.
