An Iron Age copper alloy unit of the Regini dating to c 60 BC - AD 35. This is a Chichester Cock type unit copied from Gaulish types. The obverse depicts a helmeted head. The reverse depicts a small bearded head facing right surmounted by a cock holding possibly a snake in its beak. These are the only bronze coins issued in the Southern Region. The anthropomorphic cockerel is of a genre of grotesque fantasy beasts known as grylloi which date from the 5th century BC (Rudd 2010, 56). Cf ABC p 56, no ABC 737 (Rudd, C, 2010, Ancient British Coins, CHRIS RUDD AYLSHAM 2010).

A possible fragment of a late Iron Age or Roman bow brooch consisting of the incomplete bow only. Two front face is decorated with three vertical ridges and three vertical grooves. The fragment weighs 0.76g and measures 23.95mm in length, 6.45mm in width and 1.07mm in thickness.

An Iron Age silver-plated copper alloy contemporary copy of a silver quarter stater of the Durotriges dating to c 58-43 BC (a Duro Thunderbolt type). Almost plain obverse with raised relief possibly depicting 'Three men in a boat' design. Reverse depicts a zigzag thunderbolt and a line of pellets across with the field, with two annulets and one or two 'clamshell' motifs to either side. The coin is copper alloy which has been plated with silver. ABC 2217 (Rudd, C, 2010, Ancient British Coins, CHRIS RUDD AYLSHAM 2010, Aylsham p 113, no 2217).

A cast copper alloy minature socketed looped axe dating from the Bronze/Iron Age transition to the early Roman period, that is c. 800BC-AD200. The axe is complete with a broken loop by which it formed a pendant. The loop is offset on one face. The axe has a widely splayed blade and a rounded collar; it is solid and has no socket. Miniature socketed axeheads can be dated from the Bronze Age/Iron Age transition through to the Roman period, though a date towards the earlier end of the spectrum is more likely. An incomplete Late Iron Age/ early Roman (AD 25-60/70) copper alloy strip bow brooch, missing part of one wing and axis bar, the pin and lower bow and catchplate. It measures 42.60mm in length and weighs 2.2g. The wings span 15.76mm, although the damaged wing is missing part of its length as well as its curl to the reverse. The surviving wing curls backwards to enclose the iron axis bar (now filled with corrosion). Between is a slot for the pin. The bow below has a slight curve but is otherwise straight. A Hoard of 9 Iron Age staters, addendum to 2010 T646 and 2011 T105. The coins consist of one gold and 8 silver uninscribed staters of types associated with the Durotriges, a people thought to have inhabited an area covering the modern county of Dorset, parts of Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire and the Isle of Wight during the late Iron Age. An incomplete and very worn probable Late Iron Age/ Early Roman (AD 25-60/70) copper alloy Strip Bow brooch, missing most of the wings, the pin and some of the foot and catchplate. All original patina is missing. It is also rather flattened. It measures 61.62mm in length, 9.87mm in max.width and weighs 4.35g. The bow is widest roughly at the centre.
