Copper alloy possible stylus. Cast round section rod with a moulded point at one end, flat at the other. The form closely resembles that of both lead dry-points of medieval date and the similar lead pencils for schoolroom use which are of later post-medieval date. Late Roman finds are prominent in the vicinity, so this may be a fragment wjhich has lost the spatulate eraser usually associated with Rpman styli. A free-standing cast lead conical 43.2g (1.5 oz) weight of uncertain age, but probably dating to the Post Medieval period. It has a sub-circular base with tapering sides up to a slightly flattened apex. A circular holes runs through the centre of the weight narrowing as it does so up the length of the piece.
