A Medieval copper alloy buckle dating to cAD1350-1400. The single loop frame is slightly trapezoidal with a transverse groove at either end of the front edge. The strap bar is narrowed and offset and the pin is missing. The buckle has green patina. It measures 14.91mm in thickness, 14.48mm in width, 2.88mm in thickness and weighs 1.37g.
Similar examples can be found in Egan & Pritchard (1991:96) no. 435 and Whitehead (2003:27) no. 136. Many of the buckles in this group would originally have been fitted with buckle plates.

A Medieval copper alloy single loop rectangular buckle dating to cAD1350 - 1400. There is a groove for the pin on the outer edge with an angled groove on either side. The pin is missing. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. The buckle measures 15.95mm in length, 25.77mm in width and weighs 3.64mm.
Egan (2007:96) suggests this form, type A, dates to the late 14th century. SOM-686354 on this database is similar.

An incomplete Medieval copper alloy buckle with integral plate, dating to the medieval period. The buckle frame is oval in plan with a sub-circular cross section. On one side of the frame the metal extends outwards into a flat, rectangular plate but breaks soon after at a worn break. On the surviving section of the plate is an aperature still containing a seperate copper alloy pin, and in line with the break is the suggestion of a second aperture, now incomplete. Although undecorated, there are several areas with traces of gilding.

A Medieval copper alloy single loop buckle dating to the period c. AD 1350 - 1400. The buckle has an elongated D-shaped loop with a single collared knop on the outside edge of the frame. The frame has a flat cross section perpendicular to the plane, with a narrowed cross bar with a circular cross section. The buckle measures 22.8mm in length, 15.1mm in width and is 4.6mm thick; it weighs 2.43g.
Griffiths, Philpott and Egan (2007: 95, nos. 622-633) illustrate a number of comparible examples, which they date to the late 14th century.

A Medieval copper alloy single looped buckle, dating to c. AD 1350-1400. The buckle has a D-shaped frame with a narrowed and slightly offset strap bar, which has a rectangualr cross section. The outside edge of the frame broadens into a slight lip with a notch for the pin, with a corresponding notch on the strap bar. The frame itself has a sub-rectangular cross section, with a flat base and slightly sloping from the inside edge on the top. The pin is missing. The item has a green patina. It measures 29.1mm in length, 21.7mm in width and 3.7mm in thickness, it weighs 4.78g.

A Medieval copper alloy D shaped buckle with integral forked spacer, datig to c. AD 1350 - 1450. The buckle has an oval frame lipped on its outer edge, and with an offset and constricted axis bar for the pin, now missing. The forked spacer is missing the lower portion of both prongs. The overall length is 36.9mm, the width of the buckle is 29.0mm and it is 4.0mm thick, it weighs 5.36g.

A Medieval copper alloy buckle with integral forked spacer, dating to c. AD 1350 - 1450. The buckle has an oval frame which has a bevelled upper surface and with a flat reverse. It has a pointed lip on the outer edage of the frame. The axis bar is offset and constricted for the pin, which is missing. The forked spacer has been bent slightly, and with the tip of one fork missing with an old break. The buckle with spacer is 48.26mm in length, the buckle is 18.69mm in width and weighs 3.63g.

An incomplete copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle frame, missing most of one of its loops as well as its pin. The pin bar extends beyond the edges in rounded lobes. The reverse and upper surfaces are flat, and the frame bevelled internally and externally on the upper surface. At the centre of the remaining loop is a lobe expansion with the front moulded into a rose. The remaining section is 26.7mm long, 24.8mm wide and 3.1mm thick and weighs 4.27 gram.

The frame is rectangular with an expanded outer edge. the strap bar and sides are rectangular in section with thinner sections flanking the sides along their outer edges. Cast copper-alloy sub-rectangular shoe buckle, c.1690-1720. The frame has bevelled inner edges, but is otherwise undecorated. It has two drilled holes through the centre of each of the longer sides to hold a seperate spindle. This spindle, along with the pin, stud chape and tongue remain in situ. The spindle appears to be iron, which has become badly corroded. The buckle frame is greenish-brown and survives in good condition. The pin, stud chape and tongue are slightly lighter green-brown in colour and show greater signs of errosion. Similar to Whitehead, p.102, no.660.

An enamelled cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The oval simple frame buckle measures 24.8mm in length, 31.2mm in width, it is 5.8mm thick and weighs 13.1g. The strap bar is narrowed and offset, with cube-shaped terminals. The frame has a thickened outside edge with a marked triangular pin rest (the pin is missing). The front of the outside edge is decorated with traces of blue enamel, set into four cells on each side. A small cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The D-shaped simple frame measures 12.58mm by 17.37mm by 1.83mm and weighs 1.01g. The outer edge is the widest part of the buckle; the strap bar is substantially narrowed. The frame has a flat back and a slightly convex front. It is undecorated. This buckle probably dates from the fourteenth or fifteenth century.

A cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The D-shaped simple frame buckle measures 24.16mm by 34.93mm by 2.31mm and weighs 4.98g. The strap bar is slightly narrowed. The pin is wrapped around the strap bar and tapers to a point. It measures 24.3mm in length. The curving part of the buckle has bevelled edges and there are several areas where files marks are clearly visible. This buckle probably dates from the fourteenth or fifteenth century.
