A copper alloy terminal-end ferrule of unknown use and uncertain date, possibly from the post medieval to modern period dating from around AD 1600 - 1950. It is a tapering hollow tubular body which contains wood. There is a soldered seam running along the tubular body with a circular rivet hole in each side of the metal. There is a jagged tear to the base of the seam. At the closed end is a solid pointed knop with a rounded collar. Cast copper alloy ferrule of some sort, possibly a Medieval lace chape. It is linear, with the upper end being broken and the bottom end having a globular terminal. One side of the object is open, and it is hollow inside. It has a light green patina.

A Medieval copper alloy lace chape (AD c.1200-1450). The chape has been constructed from a sheet of copper alloy. The ends of the sheet are overlapping and the chape tapers towards the point (diameter at open end 11.38mm; diameter at point 4.42mm). There are no rivet holes. The copper alloy has a mid green patina. Reference: Egan G. and Pritchard F. 1991. Dress Accessories: Medieval finds from the Museum of London. The Stationary Office, London. pp. 281-284. Dimensions: length: 82.05mm; weight: 8.91g.
