A complete Post-medieval or Modern copper alloy lace chape or lace-tag dating to c AD 1600 - 1800. The chape is conical in plan, hollow (though now filled with soil) and tapers towards a sub spherical knop at the end. A complete copper alloy lace chape or aglet, 40mm in length and of post Medieval date. The aglet is made from a rolled sheet of metal with an open seam down one side. The surface is entirely covered with stamped decoration comprising a cross-hatched grid alternating offset longitudinal lines of cells containing hexafoil florettes and fleur-de-lys around the circumference. Around the wider (rear) end is a collar of annulets alternating with hexafoil florettes.
