The type shows affinities to many uninscribed silver units produced in the south east, including the 'early face/horse' coinage of the East Anglia (Iceni) series (see especially Bury B - BMC3533ff) and British Lx silver units (BMC 376ff)

Iron Age/Romano-British copper alloy toggle, cast sub-rectangular, corroded and pitted, longitudinally convex with sides flaring from relief decoration comprising the addorsed double-lunate motif of the Iceni. Longitudinally concave reverse with integral pierced vertical triangular attachment bar. >19 x 23mm. It is possible that this toggle would have been used for fastening bags, clothes or straps. It dates to the Late Iron Age/Early Roman period, 1st century AD.

The coins are numbered according to the attached photographs.

An incomplete silver Iron Age unit of the East Anglian Region / Iceni, dating to the period c.50 BC-AD 10, Large Flan A/Mossop Proto Head type. Obverse type is illegible. Reverse: Horse right, double upper left front leg, pellets for mane, solid head and lick of flame from mouth, pellet in ring below, diamond shaped motif above with pellet in right at each point, star above tail, trefoil motif above mane. cf. ABC 1522 / 1531; BMC 3549.
This is an unusual find for Oxfordshire.

The unit is at present unidentified - it does not seem to match examples from East Anglia (Iceni). It is similar to Hobbs 2520-21 South Eastern Silver Unit - although this identification is uncertain. Images have been sent to the CCI and curators at the BM to help dentify this coin further
