Description:
A complete gold iconographic finger ring of medieval date, c.AD 1450 – 1550.
The bezel is flat and rectangular featuring an engraved figure with hand raised in blessing. An indistinct object appears to be present at the figures left shoulder. The bezel is too worn for the figure to be accurately identified though it is likely to be a saint.
A circular hoop with sub-D-shaped section extends to either side of the bezel. The band has a twisted design creating faceted shoulders with transverse ridges that extend from opposite…

Gold iconographic finger ring of Medieval date, c. 1450 - 1530.
The hoop is circular and a shallow 'D' shape in section. The bezel is flat and sub-rectangular in shape.
The shoulders are faceted, with two ridges that emanate from the bezel sides and twist down and away toward the edge of the band. In between these ridges the facets are decorated with incised floral motifs composed of sub-rectangular 'leaf-like' engravings, five-petal flowers and tulip like flowers.
The remaining outer band is decorated with diagonal stripes of alternating ridges and dotted lines.

A complete, though damaged, gold iconographic finger ring of medieval date, c.AD 1450 - 1550. The hoop of the ring is circular with a D-shaped section which widens to a rectangular bezel. The bezel itself is double faceted with a central dividing ridge which extends into the hoop. Rectilinear panels are present to either side of the bezel, each containing the incised figure of a saint. To the right, St Catherine is depicted with a wheel. To the left, St George is depicted standing atop a dragon.

TREASURE CASE 2016 T519. Disclaimed. An incomplete silver medieval finger ring now in two pieces. The hoop has a D-shaped section and now extends to about have of its original circumference. The upper face of the hoop either side of the bezel is decorated with notches to form rectangular segments; the upper segment has no internal decoration however the second segment has a rectangular box with cross through the centre, possibly a St George's Cross. Composite medieval gold iconographic finger ring with an oval bezel and a D-sectioned hoop comprised of an inner and an outer band. These have sprung apart in two places because of distortion. The bezel is engraved with the figure of St George standing on the Dragon, with a spear held almost vertically in his right hand and thrust down the monster's throat, and with a shield in his left hand bearing his cross. He wears a pointed bascinet, mail coif and plate armour, with the breastplate also bearing his cross.

A complete copper alloy signet ring of post-medieval date. The finger ring has a sub-circular bezel with a crude engraving. The engraving is in the form of a heater-style shield within a border of dots around a linear score; the field of the shield has been divided into two, with one half depicting the outline of an Irish harp while the other field has indistinct scratches, possibly an unfinshed design attempting to imitate the flag of St George. The shoulders taper into the undecorated hoop.

Modern copper alloy finger ring made from a George V penny. The ring is circular in plan and D-shaped in cross-section, convex on the outside and flat on the inner side. The outer side is corroded and a partial inscription from the obverse of the coin reads GEORGIVS V DE GRA [B]RIT[T OMN R]EX FI[D DEF IND EMP]. Modern copper alloy finger ring made from a George VI penny. The ring is D-shaped in cross-section, convex on the outside and flat on the inner side. The outer side is corroded but appears to have no surviving decoration. On the inner side is the remains of the coin's design. The inscription can be seen, reading ONE PENNY with the helmet of Britannia between the words, and then the date: 1940. It seems to have been deliberately shaped to retain these elements of the design. It is 20.0mm in diameter, 4.9mm wide and 1.4mm thick, it weighs 2.21 grams.

A complete cast copper-alloy signet finger ring of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The hoop is trapezoidal in section with flat interior and faceted outer surfaces. It expands at the shoulders to an oval shaped bezel that measures 12.86mm in length and 9.69mm in width. On the front face of the bezel is an engraved crowned letter D in retrograde. The entire object has a dark brown patina and measures 26.38mm in external diameter, 3.11mm in thickness at bezel, 2.26mm in thickness at hoop opposite the bezel, 4.92mm in width at hoop, and weighs 8.36g.

Medieval copper-alloy finger-ring dating to the 15th century AD. The hoop is circular internally but externally is shaped into eleven bosses. The flat bezel is oval, and has the motif of St George spearing the dragon reserved against an engraved background. The diameter is 25mm, the length of the bezel is 13mm, the width 8mm and the weight is 5.65g.

An incomplete copper-alloy signet finger ring.
The ring has a large oval bezel decorated with an incised design for impressing into wax seals. Most of the band is missing, but what remains is narrow and oval sectioned.The bezel is much wider than the band and is decorated with a double shield design of a harp (on the left) and a plain cross (on the right) surrounded by a framing groove. A silvered copper alloy finger ring of probable fifteenth century date. The ring is distorted out of shape but formerly had a diameter of c. 22mm. It has a regular rectangular cross-section, with a width of 3mm and a thickness of 1mm. It weighs 1.7g. The two ends of the ring have been joined with a soldered lap joint. The external surface is decorated with three equally spaced engraved crosses.
