Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL

A large fragment of what looks like a pot lid made from lead alloy. It is vaguely rectangular in shape. At the centre, there is a raised segment that seems to be a handle for the lid. It is 36.68mm long and 30.68mm wide. At the side of the handle, the lid is 15.58mm thick, whilst the rest of the lid is around 8.65mm thick. There is no decoration, and the whole thing seems to be one whole piece, with there being no signs of nails or other items fixing the handle to the top.

The strap end is likely Thomas Class A Type 2 (Patterned), with a split end, slightly convex sides and a stylised zoomorphic terminal. The attachment end terminates in a break at the twin rivets, which are still present and appear to be made of green patinated copper or copper alloy. The reverse of the strap end is undecorated, with some potential file marks. The lower half of the reverse face is encrusted by what appears to be mixture of iron and copper corrosion products. …

A possible piece of copper alloy decoration, post-Medieval in date. This object is made from a rolled piece of copper-alloy sheet, soldered in place. It is unclear what purpose this would have had other than for decoration, as it is too delicate to be used as a hook and clearly used to be attached to a large piece.

A fragmentary copper alloy strap end dating to the Medieval period. The remaining part is a sheet, which has suffered a great deal of wear and is bent in two separate areas. It has a single rivet hole at the centre of the inside edge of the sheet. Any decoration on this object is now obscured by the loss of the surface to abrasion and corrosion. The precise type of strap this sheet formed part of is uncertain, as it is missing diagnostic features necessary to identify the specific form, which would have helped date it more closely. The strap end measures 20.41mm in length, 11.34mm in …
