Silver coin. A small module hammered coin covered with a thick sooty deposit; cleaning reveals white metal, though whether this is a coating or the fabric of the coin throughout is uncertain. The letter A in the legend is the sole detail clearly distinguished, possibly an obverse feature. The range of possible identifications extends from an imperial denarius, if so, probably a later issue given the mass; through the series of base silver and silver-washed radiates. Suggested date: Roman, 43-296 Diameter: 16.5mm, Weight: 1.91gms
