An incomplete cast copper-alloy leg from a cooking vessel. The leg is broadly rectangular with a D-shaped cross section. The front is has three wide longitudinal ridges below a thick transverse collar. Above the collar are four sharper, narrower longitudinal ridges, two on either side flanking a wider central ridge to the break. The base of the foot is smoothed and worn. A copper alloy annular buckle. The frame is circular and flat. There is a separately applied centre bar of a different copper alloy attached to the rear of the frame. The heads of the attachments are visible on the front of the frame. The bar is thin with an oval cross section. Attached to the bar is a small, D-sectioned copper alloy bar. One end is hooked around the bar, the other tapers to a point. There is a low transverse ridge at the hooked end. A copper alloy cast and worked late Roman or early medieval bow Brooch c. 350 - 450 AD. The crossbar/top, pin and catch plate are missing. The bow and lower section of the brooch have a chamfered square cross section (isoseles trapezoid), with a rectangular knop at the bottom of the bow section. The foot area of the piece has a hint of a knop and significant ferrous staining, perhaps indicative of an iron pin. There are crude file marks on most surfaces and the item has a dark green patina.
