It has two bars, one at each end. Both are long, narrow rectangles with blunt, square ends and both are bent inwards through ninety degrees. They may have originally been joined to form a loop to act as a strap sli…

A complete Post Medieval copper alloy belt fitting, c.AD 1500-1700. The mount consists of two sub-oval terminals which are wider at their apexes rather than the region where they join. They are slightly domed in cross section. These are joined by their narrow end either side of a small central collar giving the impression of an elongated 'bow tie'. Two square sectioned rivets extend from the reverse ending in a point, these have been bent over creating a shoulder into a D shape which would have wrapped around a belt. One of the points has been bent back towards the b…

A tiny scrap from the end of a cast object with a moulded symbol resembling the medieval letter A with long bar across its top in mid-13th-century style – or also resembling the modern Ordnance Survey benchmark symbol – at one end. Medieval-Post Medieval cast lead alloy probable mount, c.AD 1300-1600. This is an unusual hooked object made of lead alloy, which is not a material typically used for hooked mounts, although lead alloy hooked fasteners and tags have been found from the mid to late Medieval period. This object is made from a single flattened piece of alloy that narrows and thickens into a pointed, circular-sectioned hook at the end. The upper section of the object is damaged and appears to have a trefoil shape, although one lobe has been torn off in the past. There does not appear to be any surface dec…
