An incomplete Medieval mount or buckle plate, dating to c AD 1400 - 1700. The find is missing a loop or similar for attachment. The mount has a degree of wear and patination, and is decorated but the pattern is unclear. It is rectangular,  with straight attachment edge, rivet hole in each corner, slightly rounded at the outer edge where there is a crescentic break in the centre. The underside is undecorated.  A piece of copper alloy probable casting waste of unknown date. The object is broadly triangular with a D-shaped section. The upper surface has a bulbous raised area at the top of the 'triangle' which gradually flattens out towards the opposite end. The surface is uneven and pitted while the lower surface is smooth and flat. Dimensions: Length: 58.5mm; width: 59.5mm; thickness: 14.6mm; weight: 135.43g.
