This object may have been mounted into a handle or fitted into another, larger holding device for mark making in wax. The metal is a dark green in colour with a predominantly smooth patina. An unusual cast copper alloy strap hook or hooked fitting of medieval date. The object has a subrectangular plate with slightly concave sides and a plano convex cross section. This has symmetrical decoration of scrolled forms running along the plate, rendered largely illegible by corrosion but probably intended to represent an elongated beast head. One end has a rounded attachment loop with five projections around the edge. The other end has an incomplete hook. C. later 11th-mid 12th century.

A possibly Post-Medieval or probably Modern, copper-alloy composite hook and eye decorated plate.  A slightly convex, sub-triangular plate with floral decoration and a blunt hook formed from a length of bent copper-alloy bar that has been soldered to the rear of the plate. The hook is decorated with oblique transverse lines. The circular eye attachment on the rear of the plate also appears soldered and protrudes at right angles to the plate. An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval oval frame from a two-piece shoe buckle, dating to c.1660-1720. An oval convex face, chamfered on the outside with a pin rest at one end. The reverse is chamfered on the inside with a thickened portion at either side, drilled to accept a separate iron spindle that is now missing along with the chape assembly. The surface displays a patchy dark green patina. Length 35.5mm, width 27.9mm, thickness 4.3mm, weight 6.7g. A bulla type, lead bag seal dating from the late Medieval or early modern period, about AD1890 - 1920. One side is impressed with a Star of David and the other side carries the number 166, 136 or 186. Seals with these markings are regular detector finds in Yorkshire and are probably from bags of guano or phosphate fertilisers. Leeds Phosphate Works used the Star of David motif and the number on the reverse is probably a batch number. The seal is 16.63mm long, 14.35mm wide and 3.38mm thick. it weighs 2.6g. A fragment of a copper-alloy late early medieval, or Viking Age, cheekpiece, cheekpieces were worn in pairs and each is pierced with a round hole through which the ends of the jointed iron bit projected.  Only a fragment of the flat plate and of the central hole survives as well as the knob which originally was at the base of a loop, the latter is now missing. A complete Post Medieval copper-alloy thimble. The object is a domed-shaped heavy duty thimble with tapered sides with a sub-circluar base. The thimble is covered with (mostly) regularly spaced indentations rising vertically along the body and then concentric circles around the domed top. There is an incised, circumferential double border around the base and two notches along the rim. The thimble has been damaged with an indentation near the dome.  It probably dates to the 15th or 16th centuries AD (see Holmes, 1991: p. 1, fig. 2c).

The plate is narrow and oval, waisted to a flared rear end which is characteristically split but incomplete having  broken across the rivet holes on the edge.
