A silver plated copper alloy Roman coin; a contemporary copy of a denarius, struck for Julia Maesa under Elagabalus (AD 218-222) between AD 218 and 220 (Reece Period 10). Reverse PVDICITIA, Pudicitia seated left, raising veil and holding sceptre. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p. 50, no. 268. The copper alloy core of the coin has leached through to the surface on the reverse, while much of the overall patina is copper coloured. The coin has a diameter of 12.5mm, a thickness of 5.2mm and weighs 2.68g.
