An extremely corroded copper alloy object with a cylindrical terminal (4.9mm diameter) at one end of a constriction to an ovoid lobe which tapers to a bend and a point, probably an old break. The original surface is almost entirely lost and no decoration can be made out. Possibly a terminal from a hair pin of Roman date.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy pin of Roman date (c.250-410).
Description: The pin has a globular head with damage to the apex making it now appear conical, and circular-sectioned shaft, 27mm of which survives. Between the shaft and the head is a flattened circular-section bead and spool, possibly hexagonal in section. The pin has medium green and grey green patina.

An incomplete copper alloy pin of probable Roman date c.43-410 AD.
The pin has a hemispherical head with a bevelled underside and no collar. The shaft of the pin is sub-circular in cross-section and tapers slightly over its 5.2mm length before terminating in an old break. It has a slight contraction also just before the pin head. Just before the break the pin is flattened on both sides to form a soft triangular point almost as if it has been cut by pressure from two sides.

An incomplete cast copper alloy pinhead of probable Roman date (c.AD 43-410). The pin is comprised of the head and a fragment of the shaft (overall height 13.0mm). The head is globular, flat on the bottom, with four intersecting incised grooves forming a flower or star decoration (external diameter 6.7mm, height 3.2mm). The shank is circular in section (diameter 3.0mm, 9.2mm long) and terminates in a transverse break.
The object has a dark green patina and weighs 1.24g.

A complete copper alloy Pin of Roman date (AD 75-200). The object is a Cool group 8, Cordon head. The object is composed of an upper central bead with a waisted fluted section and a double, conical collar below which is an expanded collar and a second conical collar, below which extends a circular sectioned, tapered shaft. The shaft terminates in a squared point.
The metal is green in colour with a slightly pitted patina.

The object is a Crummy Type 2 and is a hair pin composed of cylindrical apex with flat top that is waisted and followed by a further cylindrical section. Below this is a bulbous collar, below which tapers into the remaining portion of the circular sectioned shaft. The shaft terminates in an old and abraded break.

A copper alloy pin of Roman date, AD 41 - 410. It has a spherical head on the top of which is a slightly raised rectangle of metal (possibly representing a poppy seed head). Beneath the head is a groove, then a reel moulding with concave sides. Another groove marks the start of a band of oblique incised lines. This pattern of groove, reel, oblique lines, groove is repeated and finally there is another groove before the plain shaft tapers. The lower part of the shaft, is missing. The pin is 43.9mm long and 5.8mm in diameter. It weighs 4.5g.

A cast copper-alloy Roman hairpin dating to c.AD 100-200.
The pin has a flattened spherical head decorated with three grooves at the apex, forming a loose trianglular motif. The shaft is decorated with two circumferiential bands immediately below the pin head, followed by a space and three further bands, the remaining tapering shaft is undecorated and appears complete. The pin is bent below the three decorative bands, almost at 90 degrees, probably as the result of plough damage.

The pin is missing its head, which was probably onion shaped. The collar is decorated with three incised lines around its width. The shank is circular in cross section and tapers to a worn break.
Measurements: the pin measures 41.95mm in length, 4.72mm in width at the top of the collar, tapering to 1.1mm at the break. The weight of the pin is 2.44g.
