Fragment of late Iron Age copper-alloy D-shaped terret, now very corroded but perhaps originally enamelled. It has a sub-circular or slightly oval upright collar terminal 13.7mm wide, 12.1mm tall and 4.8mm thick. From one side of this projects a triangular-section upper ring, with a flat inner and an angled outer. On the other side of the collar, at its base, is a stub of the attachment bar which shows that this was rectangular-section, 6.5 x 3.4mm, and set vertically. A complete copper alloy terret ring. It is oval in shape with a sub-square drop ring attached. The ring is teardrop shaped in section with a ridge along the external diameter. It is of Lewis type 19, a continental influenced or imported terret of drop bar type. Similar examples on the database include ESS-CEA70D and LIN-159D68. It would be D shaped in plan when complete, what survives here is part of the base and a section of one side. Plain circular collars are present to either side of the skirt from which the main ring extends. The terret survives only as a fragment and presents a curved D-shape bar with a raised moulding that terminates in a won break. An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy harness fitting dating to the period AD 43-120. The fitting co prises part of the rectangular loop with a rectangular-sectioned frame. Integral to the surviving long edge is a pelta-shaped plate with a short curved arm missing hte tip. The opposite arm is missing. The centre of the plate extends slightly to a transverse break. The surfaces are very worn. The patina is light green. The harness fitting measires 14.8mm long, 16.4mm wide, 2.4mm thick and weighs 1.40 grams.
