Opaque mid grey flint, possibly collected from the East Coast, possible debitage. A thick triangular chunk with a powdery possibly marine-derived deposit on one dorsal face interrupted either by short scalar retouch at its end or by battering at that site. The ventral surface is rounded, possibly bulbar, but with further flaking or impact damage. Suggested date: Bronze Age, 2350-800

Possible flint piercer/arrowhead, of prehistoric dates. Due to its shape, and some retouching, it was likely earmarked to be a tool, but discarded pre-usage. The dark colour of the flint, and its workmanship suggest that it is likely of Neolithic origin. The flint is 90% of a white cloudy patina, and 10% of its surfaces showed signs of iron staining.
This is a common occurence on the Land's End peninsula, where we regularly find flint scatters, representing extremely long periods of occupation.
Dimensions: Length, 56.21mm, width (max), 25.39mm, thickness, 5.85mm. Weight: 10g.

It looks to be a flint implement, but due to some retouching, may possibly have been used as a scraper. The dark colour of the flint, and its workmanship suggest that it is likely of Neolithic origin. You can see the cracking ripples on its ventral surface, as well as two patches of cortex, which suggests that it was originally a tertiary flake. It has a dark grey-black patina on 90% of its surface, and the remaining 10% cortex is of a mid white-brown colour.
Dimensions: Longest length(from end to end), 34mm. Longest width (from side to side), 22mm.
Weight: 5.91g.

Flint debitage; as it is not a tool, it is difficult to securely date this object. However, flint from Beer Head in Devon is typically of a dark grey/black hue, much like this flake, and does not seem to have been imported into Cornwall until the Neolithic period. As such, this flint flake, if indeed Beer Flint, is likely to date to the Neolithic to Bronze Age periods.
It was found in moderate proximity to Carn Kenidjack; a hill covered in prehistoric megaliths, including Tregeseal Stone Circle.

A complete flint Debitage (Scraper) of Neolithic to Bronze Age date (3450-800 BC). The object is and elongated sub-spatulate in plan and is bi-convex in section. The dorsal surface has covering almost cortex, with the exception of two negative scars toward the proximal left hand edge. The distal end has been abruptly blunted. The left- and right-hand edges have fine semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral surface is slightly convex due to a bulb of percussion situated along the right hand edge. The lithic retains a large amount of cortex and is therefore a secondary flake.…
