A Neolithic to early Bronze Age polished stone perforated object, dating to c. 2800 - 2100 BC. The object is sub-rectangular with slightly convex sides, it is pointed oval in section. Positioned in the centre is a circular perforation which has a slight hourglass form. The butt of the object is slightly rounded towards the butt and shows some wear through use. The opposing edge slopes more sharply into the cutting edge, this is mostly worn through use. The surface on all sides is smooth and only slightly pitted. The stone is dark grey in colour.  Length: 102 mm

An incomplete worked stone or rubbing stone or 'muller' of unknown date, but probable prehistoric, given its findspot context. It is likely constructed from a fine-grained granite. The fragment is trapezoidal in plan. On one side it has been ground flat with a slight indentation, and the other side has been ground in a convex shape. The complete end has been rounded and shaped smooth which follow the lines of the sides. The broken edge appears to have been worked, so as to smooth out the damage. A relatively worn blade end of a greenstone adzehead, of probable late Neolithic - early Bronze Age date, made from weathered greenstone meta-gabbro. Greenstones axe or adze heads were commonplace during the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods in Cornwall.  'Greenstone' is actually a general archaeological term, rather than meaning a specific stone. It is commonly used to refer to any green-hued minerals that were used during the Prehistoric, to make tools, jewellery etc... To make matters even more complicated, various antiquarian literature in Cornwall calls this…

A relatively worn, pitted adze head, of probable late Neolithic - early Bronze Age date, made from amphibolite schist. It is a light blue-green colour, and flares at its cutting edge. Interesting, this object shows signs of having been broken, and the blade subsequently re-worked. It appears to have originally been an adze, but its secondary use was as an axehead. Greenstones axe or adze heads were commonplace during the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods in Cornwall. Due to depositional context of this find, and due to the relative proximity upstream of a Bronze Age-Iron Age…

Stone polisher, as kindly identified by the finder. A sub-spherical water-rolled pebble with a pale grey surface and smooth overall, with a restricted very smooth zone of length 27mm. The use of such objects as craft tools is likely until the end of the early medieval period, though the finder opines the find-spot to be especially productive of material dated to the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age. An incomplete stone whetstone possibly of Bronze Age date. The whetstone is made from a fine-grained grey stone. It is rectangular-sectioned with with worn broadly rounded terminals. The piece is heavily worn.   It is extremely difficult to date whetstones accurately without any supporting contextual evidence. This object was found in an area of known Bronze Age activity, a similar date therefore cannot be ruled out.

This mace eas broken transversely in antiquity though the hourglass perforation, this was worked from both faces with a pecking stone and a pointed borer until they met in the middle, creating the distinctive profile of the shaft hole. The stone appears to be Dolerite, of fine grained grey/green composition, with the original surfaces (including the breaks) now patinated with iron oxides.
