Black conical stone found on the bank of the Afon Carrog, near to Collfryn, Bethesda Bach. It may be a naturally-shaped object.
The surface of the stone is smooth, and the corners rounded, which although consistent with the action of water on the object, may suggest that it was used as a tool. The larger end of the stone is flattened, and seems to be more polished. Whilst this may be a result of contact with manganese, it also indicates that the stone may have been used for rubbing against another material. It may therefore have been used as a pestle, or a burnishing tool.
