A cast copper alloy artefact of unknown function of probable Roman date. The artefact is irregular in plan and flat in profile. A single cast beaded / raised rib separate the plate into two parts, either side of this rib are marks that might be described as laureate wreaths. The reverse is plain and undecorated. The artefact is a mid grey green colour with a well formed patina - it is recovered from an area rich in later Roman artefacts and coins. The artefact measures 19.1mm length, 24.1mm width, is 2.3mm across the plate and the rib projects 0.6mm. It weighs 4.01 grams

A group of three 'natural' stones which are recorded as they are part of a larger assemblage of material. 1. A large irregular sub oval shaped heavily water worn mudstone nodule with a series of irregular pits within the fabric. The exterior is weathered and originally (given its size and light weight) it was throught it may possibly be burnt daub or represent some form of ceramic building material. A small square shaped gold coloured possibly gold (and copper) alloyed piece of casting waste / manufacturing offcut from thick sheet / ingot of uncertain date. The metal is flat and rectangular in section; one edge has a very slight bevel to it whilst the other three have cut edges. Theer is no sign of saw marks and it looks to have been cut with a cold chisel - or been snapped. A cast lead alloy foot from a vessel or box of uncertain date. The foot descends from a circular plate and is rectanfular in plan and profile - at the base is a distinct U shaped knop or bulbous projection. On the upper edge is the remains of a iron fitting - possibly a rod or shank. The foot is a mid grey colour with a well formed surface patina. A direct parallel has not been found due to the fragmentary nature of the piece. The circular plate has a diameter of 20.4mm and the lower foot is 16.4mm length and 16.1mm wide; it is 14.8mm high and weighs 27.78 grams.

A small irregular cast copper alloy bead of uncertain date. The bead is broadly circular in plan with an irregular D shaped section. The Upper part of the bead is relatively narrow (3.4mm x 2.2mm) whilst the lower part is wider and thicker (6.3mm x 2.9mm). The hole through the centre is irregular through wear (diameter 6.3mm x 6.8mm). The bead has a thick green surface patina that is relatively unabraded. A hand forged iron object of uncertain date of function. The object consists of a circular boss which descends to a faceted rectangular bar. The item has been shown to staff of the Royal Armouries who have suggested that it is not sword / dagger related and instead is likely to be for a different purpose. A direct parallel has not been found. The object measures 55.4mm length, 34.9mm diameter across boss (11.9mm thick at same point) the shank projects 25.8mm and is 16.6mm wide and 9.2mm thick. It weighs 68.24 grams.

An uncertain lead alloy artefact of unknown date. The fragment is broadly cylindrical tapering from a rounded bulbous terminal to a narrow point. The lower section seems to have faceted sides and it is 'decorated' in several areas with four incised lines forming a saltire cross. It is possible that this is a scrap piece of lead which has been augmented for no reason by persons unknown. It is a mid grey white colour with an even thick surface patina. A purpose or date cannot be suggested for the piece. It measures: 35.5mm length, 8.2mm wide and 6.8mm thick; it weighs 9.74 grams.

An irregular artefact - possibly a loop or seal - formed from two pieces of lead alloy of uncertain date. The loop is formed from a length of lead alloy sheet which has been wrapped around a rectangular form. The loop has been broken into two parts. Contained within one end of teh loop is a further piece of lead alloy sheet. A shaped copper alloy plate of uncertain age and function. The plate is irregular in shape having five irregular sides forming an uneven pentangle . The plate is not decorated or marked. In shape it is similar to sheet metal vessel patches and straighteners of the later medieval and post medieval. The plate has a well formed but corroded patina. The plate measures 54.9 mm length and 54.0mm width is 2.3mm thick and weighs 27.87 grams.
