A fragment of a copper-alloy Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) strap end of Thomas Class E, Type 1 dating to the period c. AD 1000 - 1100. It would have comprised of an open-work design, but all that remains is the attachment end. The attachment plate retains three entrally positioned rivet holes. An incomplete copper-alloy early medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) stirrup terminal. The object is an elongated, tubular shape, C-shaped in cross-section with an open concave reverse and zoomorphic moulding on the outer face and sides. The centre of the lower end of the outer face projects downwards culminating in a rounded point representing the snout of an animal. Copper alloy possible buckle fragment, as kindly suggested by the finder. A small cast loop with a markedly projecting lip in the zoomorphic form of a pointed beast head with prominent sub-triangular eyes or ears upstanding on top and with a grooved or hollowed underside; the putative strap bar is absent. The reddish tint of the metal is a feature often associated with Anglo-Scandinavian metalwork. A fragment of a copper-alloy Ansate brooch dating to 700-1000AD.  All that remains is a flattened circular terminal with incised circular border that contains a cross-shaped motif. It is encrusted with iron corrosion, and to the reverse has the remains of an iron pin. A similar, more complete, example can be seen on PAS, see SF-5260B8. This ansate brooch is of Middle Anglo-Saxon date with close parallels noted from Ipswich (West, 1998: nos. 98.3-4).  Length: 14.76mm Width:13.30mm Weight: 2.28g

A lead Early Medieval spindle whorl, dating from about AD 850 - 1000. It is of Walton Rogers form A1. The spindle whorl is sub-conical in form, with one flat face and one face with one rounded face.  The whorl has a cream patina and is undecorated. Measurements are; diameter 26.9mm, thickness 6.9mm and weight 24.76g.  The central hole has a diameter of 11.1mm. Form A1 whorls are dated by Walton Rogers to AD 500 - 1000. Those with a central perforation of 11mm are more likely to be from the late Anglo Saxon period.
