A cast lead alloy cat. It is a plump, contented cat in the seated position. The back of the model is quite crude although the features of the hip and leg are present, but the face is well moulded. It has been painted yellow. It seems to be a bred, domesticated cat and this is therefore probably a model of a twentieth century cat. The finder notes that the base is possibly damaged and it may have sat on a platform of some sort. Dimensions: It is 65mm high and 65mm wide and 200m deep, it weighs 102.10g

Copper alloy possible toy fragment. Cast solid disc or wheel with a thin outer rim with faint fine radial lines and with a small central pit, possibly from a toy motor car with a tyred wheel or spare wheel represented. Patinated. A handmade lead alloy aeroplane. It has a cigar shaped fuselage with a flat conical nose. The wings and the smaller tailplane are both triangular, finishing in a sharp point. Approximate halfway down the fuselage the body flattens to the tail, and on the tail end of the fuselage is an flattish oval structure. From the underside it can be seen that the fuseage is hollow and has been formed around something, the whole is cut from one sheet of lead alloy. It is red in colour and may have been painted. The plane is of no particular model and is either unfinished, or an imaginitiv…

Lead alloy toy fragment. Hollow-cast head and neck of a bridled horse modelled at a scale somewhat larger than 54mm/1:32, with a distinctively broad brow and protruding eyes and with a mane falling to one side. The metal retains a greyish tint. The scale and somewhat coarse modelling point to a product of one of the early 20th-century competitors of toymaker William Britains - Johillco made slightly larger figures - probably representing a mounted soldier or cowboy. Abraded. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1939 Height: 29.7mm, Width: 35.4mm, Thickness (wall of casting): 1.2mm, Weigh…

A lead alloy figure of a soldier. He is in wearing infantry service or battle dress, and has his rifle resting along his leg on the his right hand side. He has packs of equipment across his chest. On his back he has a larger pack, and he is standing with his head bowed slightly. He may be wearing a beret. There is some damage to the back of his head, which seems recent, otherwise he is complete. As there is not enough detail to distinguish the type of dress he is wearing, it is not possible to say if he is a First or Second World War soldier but the shortened tunic would…

A lead alloy car of the early 20th century. The car modelled is a long bonneted low enclosed cabin sports car with long sweeping front wings. This type of car was popular in the 1930's and 1940's, seen in for example, the Hispano Suiza H6, or the Bugatti Atlantic, both of which were manufactured from 1938 onwards. The model is covered in a heavy white patina, and may have been lost soon after production, and may also have a very high lead content. Dimensions: 63mm long and 19mm wide

A complete lead alloy toy gun cast in the form of a pistol or revolver of a Modern date c. AD1900-1980. The gun is comprised of a solid barrel, a bullet cylinder with four external grooves or flutes (two on each side of the barrel chamber). Beneath the chamber is a short curved trigger and behind the barrel at the top of the handle is the barrel spur. The handle is oval in plan and hollow suggesting that this gun could have been mounted on for example a stick or might originally have been attached to a figure.  The gun has been cast in two parts with…

A small wheel, 23.8mm in diameter, made from a base metal copper alloy with a high lead content giving it a silvery green patina which has become extensively corroded. The rim has an oval cross section 2.8mm thick. There are mould lines / casting seams visible around the outer and inner edges, but there is no decoration.

Cast or hollow cast naturalistically rendered model of a bridled horse at a scale of c.1:40, the head and neck remain with indications of head harness and possibly a covered military saddle; the rest of the model is melted and/or lost. Lead alloy toy fragment. Hollow-cast and naturalistically rendered model of a milkmaid at her pail at a scale of 54mm or 1:32. The figure crouches before the bucket with both hands above its surface, she was presumably to be juxtaposed with a model of a cow; her head and the back of the lower body are lost together with the long garment she wears. The Farm Set introduced by Britains in 1922 may have included this piece or may have spurred its manufacture by a competitor; the arms are not moveable on this model, which was a usual feature of Britains’ figures. Lead alloy toy farm animal. Hollow cast naturalistically rendered sheep, standing, modelled at a scale of 1:32 or 54mm. The beast is hornless with a docked tail and a straight broad back, all characteristics of a modern or improved breed. Probably from a farm animal set; the first was produced by William Britains in 1922 as a post--Great-War change from their extensive range of tin soldiers, though other makers soon followed their lead. This model lacks any indication of the manufacturer, so may not be made by Britains. Either patinated or retaining extensive traces of white paint. Sug…

A lead alloy probable Modern toy, perhaps from a boat, dating from AD 1900 - 1960. It is a sub-triangular moulded plate of metal, with a raised rim on the front face. There are also raised does (perhaps intended to be rivets) and an oblong form which a line on an angle protrudes. The side has raised ribs perpendicular to the plate, and the reverse has a broken flange projecting near the edge. It is 27.8mm long, 15.2mm wide and 7.2mm thick. 4.49g.
