A near complete Medieval copper alloy casket key dating from the late 12th to early 14th century. The key is mostly intact but is broken at the end of its shank so that only part of this and the bit survive.
The key has a circular shaped bow with a circular shaped central hole. It has a solid oval cross sectioned shank that is hollow down its centre. There is a slight expanded collar at the join between the bow and the shank.
