An unidentified fragment, probably of a silver object; (possibly of copper alloy with a high tin content), of suggested Roman date c. AD 43-410. The fragment is flat with one face decorated in cast relief comprising a curved band of cabling and feathering, possibly depicting hair.  The reverse is undecorated and slightly convex with a silvery surface with irregular pitting. The edges are irregular, one is clean and straight suggesting it has been cut, the rest are irregular and two appear to be cabled indicating they are original edges. The thickness tapers from 2.35mm …

A complete copper alloy ball of probable Post-Medieval date (AD 1550-1900). The object is composed of a sphere of copper-alloy, with a green patina and surface pitting.  The object’s function is unclear but could be a Gaming Piece or Ball Bearing. Copper alloy unidentified object. Triangle of thin sheet metal with two rounded corners and two tiny [diameter 1.1mm] holes, one blind. Possibly for a small value from a set of chemist’s weights. The discovery of a scale of Roman lorica squamata (NLM-C42002) which also has cut corners, reported along with this object, might alternatively suggest this to be another piece of scale armour, albeit of different form. Suggested date: Unknown, Roman to Post-Medieval, 43-1850 Length: 12.9mm, Width: 13.3mm, Thickness: 0.7mm, Weight: 0.45gms

A length of copper alloy bar of rectangular cross-section, of unknown date, probably Roman - Post Medieval. It has a well developed turquoise green patina. The thickness and width of the bar varies and it is slightly curved. An unidentified, copper alloy artefact of unknown date, Roman to Post Medieval, AD 43 - 1700. It is a strip of sheet copper alloy, which is broken at both ends. The long edges are gently curved so the strip is wider in the middle. There is a near right angle bend near each end. These are probably original, because the decoration on the centre of the strip stops short of the bends. The decoration is a pair of simple wide longitudinal grooves. The strip is 13.5mm long, 6mm wide and 6.6mm thick. It weighs 0.4g. It has a bright bluish green patina and is smooth and glossy.

Unidentified cast copper alloy object, depicting a three dimensional claw or talon shape, the wide end has two filed flat panes set at just under 90 degrees to each other, no obvious means of attachment, though it is possible solder may have been used; the larger of the two flat areas has a small rough patch to one side, this could be the remains lead-based adhesive, though it lacks the obviously white appearance this usually has. No parallel has been noted, though a broadly similar object is recorded here: BUC-E1B208, also the form is reminiscent of Post Medieval toothpicks such …
