It is not symmetrical in any plane, there is a small 'lump' at the end of the long section. The cross section is sub-circular. It resembles an arm, or perhaps the hooved leg of a horse, and could perhaps be part of a statue, although from what period it is not possible to say. It is heavily encrusted. A probable copper-alloy harness fitting. The find comprises a single, double folded sheet of copper-alloy. The front face is roughly sub rectangular in form and is shaped in such a way that two of the opposing corners curve upwards creating a rough horizontal crescent shape. A complete copper-alloy finger-ring of uncertain date, possibly Roman to post-medieval, c. AD. 43 -1900. It is a plain ring, making it difficult to assign a definitive date. It could be a Guiraud (1989) type 8 (circular) Roman finger ring, but most likely, on account of its condition, it is later in date, probably post-medieval. A copper alloy ring, likely a horse harness ring dating from the Roman to Post-Medieval era (AD 43-1800). Due to the nature of the find, it is hard to accurately date it unless found in a specific archaeological context. The ring is roughly circular and has an external diameter of 26.69mm and an internal diameter of 19.54mm. The band width is 3.78mm and the thickness is 3.29mm, however it does vary across the ring likely due to wear from use. It has a roughly hexagonal cross section. It has a dark green patina and there are no visible signs of decoration.
