A cast copper-alloy Roman hairpin dating to c.AD 100-200.
The pin has a flattened spherical head decorated with three grooves at the apex, forming a loose trianglular motif. The shaft is decorated with two circumferiential bands immediately below the pin head, followed by a space and three further bands, the remaining tapering shaft is undecorated and appears complete. The pin is bent below the three decorative bands, almost at 90 degrees, probably as the result of plough damage.

The pin has a rectilinear shaft with a circular cross-seection, thickening towards the middle, before tapering to a blunt point. At the apex is an elongated sub-oval head. Undecorated.

A fragment of a Roman bone object, possibly a pin dating to c.AD 43-410.
The object comprises a squashed globular, faceted and sub-rectangular-sectioned head with an off-centre circular hole or aperture. A sub-rectangular shaft, sub-circular in cross-section, extends 11.04 mm in length from the head, it is slightly facetted and terminates with a broken blunt end.

A fragment of a cast copper-alloy Roman brooch, possibly a trumpet brooch. The face is semi-circular with a worn decoration; behind the face is a longitudinal loop of internal diameter 3.2mm. At the base of the face is the remains of the pin shaft of diameter 3.4mm. This item probably dates from the mid 1st to mid 2nd century (AD 50 – AD 150).

The head of this pin is a ovoid in shape, measuring 12.23 mm in length and 11.11 mm in width. One face of the head has an oval shaped protrusion carrying two diagonal grooves that meet at one end, surrounding this is are radiating grooves. The oval protrusion measures 7.08mm in thickness. An incomplete, cast, copper alloy probable hair pin (length: 18.66 mm; diameter of head: 6.68 mm; weight: 1.89g). Decorated with a flat, spherical head with a collar underneath, these is a rather simple probable hair pin. Below the last collar, the remains of the shank continue for 9.80 mm. Generally, the probable pin is in a worn and poor condition.The artefact has a dark green/ brown patina.

Fragment of an unidentified copper alloy object, possibly a pinhead of Roman date. The head is a solid oval globule with a flat oval collar below. A narrowed shank of circular section extends below the collar, and leads into a second collar of smaller diameter than the first. The base is incomplete and worn, but traces of a shank of circular section are visible below.

A Roman copper alloy pin. The pin has a flat reeled head, below which are three faceted globular knops each separated by a reel. Each knop and reel tapers in size towards the shank. Below the final reel are four circular moulded bands from the bottom of which extends a shank of circular section. The shank extends circa 23.7mm and appears to be more or less complete. The shank has a shallow bend to it half the way down which appears to be intentional rather than damage.

A Roman copper-alloy hair pin. The pin has a globular head on a spool. The shaft is circular in section and is broken shortly below.
This pin belongs to Crummy's (1983, 28) Type 2 ('pins with heads of bead, reel and spool motifs surmounted by a flattened sphere'), which are of early 2nd century to 3rd century date. She illustrates several similar example from excavations in Colchester (ibid., 29, fig.27), although the form is highly variable and rarely are two of the same design found.

A possible Roman copper alloy pin. All that survives is a short length of shank of circular section. At the top there is a rectangular collar with a concave waist. Extending from the top of this collar is a narrow shank of rectangular section.
This item somewhat resembles the series of Roman pins that contain cockerels at the top. These animals are often depicted standing on a pedestal, such as YORYM-1E9870, HAMP-2D1DA7, LIN-AE15C1.

The head is sub-spherical measuring 6.7mm long, 8.7mm wide and 7.9mm thick. The shaft is broadly circular in section and tapers in diameter from 3.2mm where it meets the head to 1.7mm at the break.
