The object is a Crummy Type 2 and is a hair pin composed of cylindrical apex with flat top that is waisted and followed by a further cylindrical section. Below this is a bulbous collar, below which tapers into the remaining portion of the circular sectioned shaft. The shaft terminates in an old and abraded break. An incomplete, copper alloy, Roman - Medieval, facet headed pin, AD.150-1200. The object comprises the head and part of the shank of the pin. The head is faceted with 13 decorated facets each with a single ring and dot. The 14th facet is where the pin shank emerges, below this is a narrow faceted collar. The shank has broken probably halfway down its length. This form of pin is common from the Roman period to the medieval, though perhaps most common during the Roman and Early Medieval periods.

The shaft expands below the waisted portion and tapers in towards the pointed tip. There is no indication of decoration. An incomplete copper alloy Pin of Roman date (AD 43-410). The pin has a simple flattened knob-shaped head with a collar below. The shaft tapers in and terminates at its end in an old abraded break. There is a slight bend in the shaft above the break. The metal is mid-green in colour with a predominantly smooth patina. A complete silver pin with a polyhedral head and a tapering shaft of circular section. The pinhead is formed of a cuboid with the corners cut off, forming 13 facets. The top facet and the four outer facets have evidence of central recesses, following the lozengiform shape of the facets. There is no evidence of a collar beneath the head.

It is 3mm in diameter near the head, expands to 4mm briefly before tapering to a point. The tip of the point is missing. The patina is a light green, and the shank is bent slightly after the widest part. Pins of this type are dateable to the broad Roman period.

A cast copper alloy globular headed pin, with the stem missing, leaving just a stub at the base of the head. The head is 13mm in diameter and 10mm high. The stem has a section of 3.5mm in diameter, and is 3mm long from the head to the break. Globular headed pins are difficult to date accurately, due to their non-diagnostic style and ease of manufacture meaning they were produced in the Roman and Medieval periods. However, the patina of this pin suggests a Roman date to the recorder.
