Cast discoid mount with a deep concave front or top with a centrally protruding cone with recessed top, set above a waisted collar of three orders, the lowermost being additionally grooved at top and bottom. A copper-alloy probable Roman lock pin dating from AD 43 - 410. The object has a circular loop at one end, mounted on a circular disc. The loop is not central. Extending from the other face of the disc is a long rectangular shaft which is positioned to one side of the disc. The shaft is flat and tapers a little in width towards the far end. There is a small circular perforation at the narrow end. The loop has an inner diameter of 5.93mm. The object is 37.1mm in length, 9.0mm in width, 9.2mm in thickness and it weighs 3.27g. A Roman cast copper alloy lock pin. The head has a  circular section and is conical, expanding to the end which 15.8mm in diameter and concave with a flat-topped sub conical projection at the centre which has a dimple at its apex and is surrounded by a narrow ridged border at the base. Below this the terminal is waisted and then expands into a 13.7mm diameter circular ridged collar. From the terminal projects an integrally cast rectangular-sectioned (6.7mm by 3.9mm) slightly tapering shank which ends in an old break.

A cast copper alloy Roman lock pin with a discoidal head, 25.1mm in diameter, which has a low conical boss surrounded by a wide recessed border. The reverse is slighlty convex with an integrally cast projecting shank, 7.5mm wide, flat in cross section and 4.2mm thick. This is incomplete, with an old rounded break at the end. The original surface has mostly been lost due to corrosion.

A cast copper alloy object, probably an incomplete Roman (AD 43-410) lock pin or furniture fitting. The object consists of a flat circular head on one end of an incomplete square-sectioned shaft. The head measures 18.5mm in diameter and 7.4mm thick, and is decorated with a grooved ring on the top. The shaft has a cross section around 10mm wide on each side and is 39mm in length, ending with a worn flat end which may be an old break. Cf. HAMP-5DEDA6, KENT-C4889A, KENT-4964CD and BH-939DA5; Crummy (1983: 124-125, fig. 137) has two examples of lock pins from excavations in Colchester.

Copper alloy lock fragment. A round section bar, tapered to a sharp and lightly bent point at one end, and passing through a thin [0.5mm] rectangular [11.5mm by 9mm] plate at the other, where it is flattened to form a rectangular leaf-spring with diagonal striations on both its sides, diminishing from a maximum thickness of 1.1mm where it emerges from the plate. The upper surface of the head is concave with a central round protrusion. In profile the head bears much resemblance to many "bell-shaped stud" furniture mounts, e.g. DOR-F9A898 and PUBLIC-939B68. In profile the head bears much resemblance to many "bell-shaped stud" furniture mounts, e.g. DOR-F9A898 and PUBLIC-939B68, though it is much smaller. The thickness of the rectangular-sectioned shank reduces towards a rounded end above which is a round transverse perforation. Similar to Crummy 1983 no. 4143. Weight 8.95g. Length 37.2mm. A cast copper-alloy object, possibly a lock pin of Roman date, AD 43-410. The pin is 39.4mm in length, with a conical head of 5.9mm diameter and a tapering shaft which has a rectangular slot through it near the head. This slot measures 1.7mm wide by 6.3mm in length. The shaft has a 4mm wide collar at the head; the lower (tapering) portion is decorated with three bands of facets and incised lines which may be functional for the lock mechanism.
