A possible whetstone of Roman to Post-medieval date (AD 43-1800). The stone is smooth and sub-triangular in profile. The proximal end is ovate in section and smoothed with wear. The Proximal end narrows to a smooth point and the left hand edge has a gradual notch running from near the proximal edge to the distal edge. There are some minor linear and curvilinear incisions in the dorsal surface. The ventral surface is smooth with two incised lines both situated along the left hand side.

A complete whetstone of Roman to Post Medieval date 43-1800 AD. The stone is a smooth sub-triangular in profile and plano-convex in section. The proximal end is ovate and smoothed with wear. The Proximal end narrows to a smooth point and there is a smoothed notched effect on the mesial left hand edge. There is one distinct incised line on the dorsal mesial left had side. The ventral surface is smooth with two incised lines, on approximately half the length of the other, running from the proximal to mesial portion centrally and to the left hand edge respectively. A Roman – Medieval flint wedge or hammerstone (AD43-1500). The flint has been roughly knapped to from a wedge-shape at one end and the opposite end shows signs of pounding. The tool could have been used to split timber or simply as a hammerstone. Dimensions: length: 125.14mm; width:79.96mm; thickness: 69.64mm; weight: >200g. Worked flint, lithic implement; hammer stone. There is evidence of blows on both faces and sides, there are bulbous precusions on both faces. This items looks to crude to be prehistoric but could be Roman or Medieval.
